really believing
two of the greatest
musical quivers
boundlessly
I burst quite sick
into history
with how many heads
always holding symphony,
art otherwise despair
consider one literary
thing, make it your bed
and invariably perish
simultaneously with every
thing else
really believe
an absolute nature
factually accused
of producing
nothing
to be a seer
more indeed than describe
but misconstrue
into artless paralysis
walking in reality
but in truth
to bear torrential
truth
do not enter
a tree or song
but life
life, nay, breathe
into something featureless
who knows what reasons
mysterious dissolved them
as examples of this process
merely accept this object
as contour groped in darkness
possibly decades
in the making
itself a memory ago
where I promised
to write language
as crust enveloping
experience
de adulto, nos tocó amigos morir;
nos ha tocado morir antes de morir,
cada grano de fuego, cada mito de piedra
cada persona pura
muere, tarde o temprano,
en nuestras copas de luz, alguien
o algo se apaga, como
un grito en el vacío
cielo
a dónde
sino a lejanía ágil que salta
donde la razón no llega
ni con su ala cuadrada
y lógicos aleteos
antes de morir hay tacto
palpo, roza cada superficie
contra cada rosa de piel
sea piedra o nube o humano
restregando entre sí
dando eros a cada
escalofrío de revelación
pero nos toca expirar
prometerle al olvido
todo lo que se ha podido
en tiempo recordar
no podemos traducir
la agonía de existir en corto universo
no se puede trasladar
el dolor de árbol
que arraiga pulso al corazón
no hay paréntesis
en aullar nuestra melancolía
al imperio del silencio.
Friday Night Black and White, May 10th, 2013.
Yesterday there,
could have written
a poem, a tunnel
to something greater
than what we amassed
in many units
of cyclic century
I could have, yesterday.
Created a segment of fiction
that borrows truth as tool
and made universe
a cog in a bigger dream
Yesterday, there
was only need for one hundred
twenty-one words
to serve as ligament
between the earth
and a single
human heart
I could have, yesterday.
Covered my eyes, my eyes
with pungent dust and
swallowed the interior
of a cloud. Something vague
but elementary, could have
been spoken
Yesterday there,
could have left legacy
to some mad prophecy,
I could have dropped
an ounce of voice
into the hole
that is an abyss
above us.
and we will perform
the part of a particle
in this unique union
of universes
ai se me derrite la tristeza
en mi boca
y tengo una luz tan amarga
que solo ni los ojos
la pueden tragar,
sanar y olvidar.
Ai quiero devolver este montón de mundo
regresarlo con este puñado de palabras
que nunca encuentran la verdad
regresar el mundo como un libro
que nunca podré terminar
como un vientre
que nunca podré fecundar
ai se me deshace la última hora
en mi boca
la última candela se va derritiendo
y su fuego jala la sombra
veo cosas negras unir sus fronteras
ai esta melancolía significa cuerpo
solitaria y labios rojos
para amarla y darle una
ropa de lágrimas
ai se me puebla la tristeza
en mi boca
como dando fruta inmensa
con semilla que tira raíz tan gélida
que llegaría al corazón
ai me pregunto qué será la muerte
para tranquilizar y esparcir
la sangre en una ruta
roja del viento
ai se me deshace la lengua
en mi boca olvidada
y abro dientes tantos
latidos que nunca pensaron
que el pensamiento nunca los
entendería .
To peek within,
through artery,
like spying through
a window into a room
with two armchairs
and a book of chemistry.
To capture within
the vaulted length,
the sinuosity of entrails
like a mountain range
that forces trees up toward the sky
with perched birds inside them
looking down toward the earth
for the head of a worm.
To glance within
through dilated ache,
while standing outside a café
in front of a mob that clothe
with invisible meaning
the earth and pretend its
burning bone will survive
the excitement of light
as crystal memory
in the pockets of their hearts.
To visualize within,
through hot telescope,
the distance of our truths,
like studying the clusters
of emptiness inside
an amoeba of hope.
To see within,
through the gate of the mouth,
a deeper hole that is glutted with silence,
like a threshold that opens up
not to soul
but to something even more
lost.
that night
was a reign of
untamable fragments
Algún poeta
describió su poesía
como reportajes
y alucinaciones
pero no son acaso
la misma cosa;
reportar la alucinación
de los eventos
hoy…
ahí podría terminar un poema.
en potencia, en instante, en quimera.
hoy
iba andando
en bicicleta por puente
sobre mar
era una furia de crestas
sangre azul bulléndose
nadie lo notó.
(si la gente notara las cosas
es probable que la poesía
sería superflua)
nadie se acostó
sobre su vientre
para estudiar la carnosidad
del agua, su pulso refractado
en trece mil escalofríos
nadie.
no especulo.
Me limito a reportar la alucinación
y decir,
hoy… vi el mar.
