prelude to a philosophy of meaninglessness

philosophy_of_silence

I want to write
clear and distinct ideas
expressing how life
is a short sojourn
in an unclear and
indistinct domain

that my philosophy
become the instant
when words ricochet off
the build of reality

to expose the futility
of the understanding
and dilate the aperture
through which silence
sinks

I want to make sure
that the veracity
of my principles
is unverifiable

that the meaning
of my verse
emerges as
a blur of music

I want to leave
the cloud of phenomena
to become a single
dab of mist
throbbing in the
chaotic extent.

el trabajo de la tierra

el_trabajo_de_la_tierra

Cuando me fijé
estaba el mundo
tenso como una
piedra erizada

en un rincón borroso
salí con fuego para
prender la sangre
que dejó el eco

estos ojos han dado golpes
han dejado morados
los recuerdos de la luz

la blancura temblaba
y fui herramienta
que estiró el fulgor
y plegó la lejanía

por qué

porque me gusta tocar
el trabajo de la tierra
y jalar la tira del cielo
que acaricia los gritos
de la vida.

echolike

echolike_dada_automatism

Look at the fountain, how it stretches its arm-like foam and spurting bouquets of gurgles; it leaves no echo in the sunlit conception. I know what it was. A word. Burgeoning and birds, no, butterflies came to squeeze its melancholy. Ah how it flows, echolike and here I am rewriting the misery of boredom, nay, a resistance to ineffability. I wonder how many have seen a human skull (like the one I saw today) and thought to themselves: I will fight till the end. It would be prudent to say: idiots! Some days when bliss is spilt and the cock is dry, you really become a skeptic, doubting the lyrics of the mother. Whose mother? The one with the ring and the beautiful array of beats that threw us off and made us tame soldiers. What can we expect when we’re abandoned and hungry seeking the lost pictures of meaning. I can’t imagine how to end this, this sick exercise of automatic writing. I could throw in some words I admire: echo, emptiness, essence, elixir, elapsed, echo. Oh I keep repeating that one.

Bajo esta luz de neón

luz_de_neon

mammal joy

mammal_joy

how can I evaporate
the pearl of clitoris
these hands that are fat
clusters of touch
and render shine
like a drop of moon
my crash that rubs against torment
strung and the column’s
fresh pound
strikes upon the amalgam
of velvet
I have forgotten where
this clump of noises
originates
the moan scrapes morning
and the last mammal joy
escapes from
this splatter of skin.

yo no sé si he nacido

suaves_siglos

El sol se acostó
en mis venas
era una fruta agridulce
que entró en mi sangre
e hizo espuma en
mi consciencia

yo no sé si he nacido
o si estos son apenas
campos de gestación

el día deja caer
su luz como un vestido
sobre el tronco desnudo
de mi vida

pero yo no sé si he nacido
o si son orillas de zafiro
en las alas del instante

la noche se abrió
erizó las sombras
entre los minutos
y parpadearon las tierras

¡yo no sé si he nacido!
o si es que son tan suaves
los siglos que cruzaron
el olvido para llegar
hasta aquí.

book of hours

book_of_hours

This is the book of hours.

It starts
with something
much earlier
than life.

Brighter than
a halo,
shorter than
a sigh.

As you begin
to flip the pages,
there is
something of elements
and monumental drift.

Every letter
glides as a cloud
in exquisite detail.

It is all there,
frail and impermanent,
the stones and
the race.

It is an exercise
of contemplation
within this verse
of sight.

The mother
holding
the pendulum
of her breasts

and the hours
careening by
as dry

leaves
from nowhere.

This is the book of hours.

mira como

gaviota_en_vueloMira
como nada se gasta
en este capullo
donde gesta pájaro
arrinconado
como
caracol de plumas.

Te lo contaré todo
cuando
camines por los pasillos
del pelo
y sacudas
la curva del canto.

Te dejaré
un lenguaje
bordeado
con la noche
dura en sus esquinas.

Cuando
sea una columna
de hilo
en el pasado,
un nombre mojado
y atropellado.

Te contaré
como
nada se gasta
en este destello
de vida,
nos revolcamos
como luces de estrella
en lago batido.

Te dejaré sola
con la pared
donde
transita el río
de tu sombra.

Te dejaré
brotar
el azul
de tus senos
y machacar
el tiempo
hasta un polvo
fino y diminuto.

Mira
como nada se gasta
y hemos sido
sustancia
arremolinada
como trayecto
de gaviota
en aire celeste.

twigs of being

twigs_of_Being_poem

I would call it rain,
but it’s just a drop,
that slithers through
the contours of the
heartbeat.

I suddenly
become still,
like a branch
suddenly strapped
to a shaft of sunlight.

If I could peek
inside
to witness
a constellation of twigs,
flickering and shudders,
after each clinch,
as the hungry drop
tunnels through
the expanse of feeling.

At that moment,
language tangles up
into a yarn of illusion.

It falls still wet with joy.

I am planet
eroded by pleasure,
a hard knot of memory.

But everything is quiet,
only for a chime
every time
the drop clinks
against an organ
or a thought.
